About Brookburn P.T.A.

Brookburn PTA exists primarily as a fund-raising body for our school.  However, our other important function is a social one.  When we organise fun social events we try to combine these aims, raising money for the school whilst providing time and space for families  and school staff to enjoy each other’s company informally.  Some of our events are for the children, some for parents and some are for the whole family. We organise the Winter and Summer Fairs along with the Autumn and Spring Discos for the children.  We also hold a variety of other events such as Fun Runs, Wine Tastings and Pub Quizzes.

These PTA events pay for activities and materials that whilst very important for our children, fall outside the scope of the school budget.  This is a list of just some of the things the PTA has subsidised this year:

  • £2,500 towards the Year 6 Ghyll Head trip
  • 25% of all other school trips
  • £100 to each classroom teacher to pay for materials
  • New stage lights
  • New sound system
  • Equipment for the new children’s kitchen
  • Climbing Wall

It’s important to note that every parent or guardian is automatically a member of the PTA and is therefore welcome at all our meetings.  We need lots of help in all sorts of ways and even if you can only manage one event a year, that can make a huge difference.  Most important of all, we love to see as many families as possible at our events, so come along, have fun and raise some dosh – it’s our children who benefit from every penny raised.

Our meetings are on either the first Monday or first Tuesday of every month except August – ask at the office, check noticeboards or ask your child’s class teacher to be sure!
